Panama Mulan, “anybody walking?” and the Tanzplattform Rhein-Main invite you to the Kiki Ball! Regional artists and international stars of the scene will compete against each other in 19 categories.
More than a battle: The Ill Nana Kiki Function is a statement for the visibility of queer, trans* and non-binary people of color. Originating in the Black and Latinx queer communities in New York in the late 1960s, Ballroom has gained worldwide significance in recent years.
The Ill Nana Kiki Function celebrates the transformative power and artistic practice of this culture - an evening for the community and anyone who wants to discover it!
Since the first Kiki Ball, the collective “Anybody Walking?”, run by Panama Mulan (Kiki House of Hua Mulan), has continued to grow and has established itself as a central player in ballroom culture in the region with members from all over the Rhine-Main region. With their weekly open training sessions, regular workshops and events, they not only create spaces for artistic expression, but also for empowerment and community building. The “Ill Na Na Kiki Function” is intended to celebrate all their successes and work, give artistic practice a stage and invite you to experience the color pink in all its facets.
At the “Ill Na Na Kiki Function”, pink becomes the focus of the evening. Whether on the runway, in the performances or in the audience - all participants and guests are welcome to bring their own interpretation and association of pink and immerse the evening in a sea of pink.
If you already have some experience with Ballroom and are interested in taking part yourself, please contact Panama Mulan: Panama@anybodywalking.net.
