Contemporary ballet
A class that combines ballet technique and contemporary dance, the warm-up begins with improvisation exercises to explore the three-dimensionality of the body in space. The exercises at the barre range from simple to complex, using movement sequences that expand in their relationship to space by changing dynamics and position, serving to sharpen one's sense of movement. Richard uses his interest in different musical styles to develop qualities of movement and rhythm within the combinations. The class explores ballet technique in contemporary dance as a tool, giving participants more freedom of movement and awareness of their own movement potential. The training is designed for both contemporary and ballet dancers.
Richard Oberscheven is a dancer, choreographer, lecturer, Vinyl-DJ, and music producer. His artistic work is based on improvisational concepts and real time composition of the body in relation to space, people, and music. In 2019 Richard received the Jury Award Best Performer at the SoloDuo Festival NRW with As I would like. Parallel to his own work, he collaborates with artist groups such as Tony Rizzi and the Bad Habits, Hennermans Horde and with choreographers Verena Kutschera and Crystal Schuettler.
