Taulant Shehu: Dua
Taulant Shehu, dancer of the Hessian State Ballet and aspiring choreographer, explores his Albanian roots in his new creation “Dua”. “Family and tradition are two important pillars of Albanian culture, and at no time are they more closely linked than in a wedding ceremony,” he says. In this ritual gathering, music becomes the protagonist of the evening, when a metachoreography of traditional dances begins: one after the other, parents, family members and friends dance with the bride, creating a seemingly endless cycle of dances, from which a wedding celebration generates its particular energy.
For this choreographic exploration of (Albanian) tradition, composer Arne Stevens will present a composition which, drawing on traditional Albanian instruments, will underline the specific creative process of the work.
