Empowerment Within Dance Outreach Practices
with Felix Berner, choreographer and dance outreach facilitator
How must dance outreach processes be designed so that participants/dancers can perceive, experience and use their own creative potential, resources and strengths? What culture of communication should form the basis of such a process? Felix Berner provides insights into his dance outreach practice with young people in his the development of pieces, in his trainings with large heterogeneous groups and in his work with professional dancers.
Felix Berner completed his dance training at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and has worked as a dancer with choreographers such as Pina Bausch, Ann van de Broek, Sharon Eyal, Tero Saarinen, Club Guy and Roni and Jan Pusch. In 2012, he also began choreographing for professional ensembles and has directed various dance and theatre projects with young people, which won various awards. In 2014, he began working in the field of dance and theatre education and outreach at the Staatstheater Mainz and also teaches dance education and outreach at various universities.
