On Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1
For dance enthusiasts of all ages and levels who are interested in creative exchange in movement and new experiences!
Hiphop, afro fusion and house - on the two workshop days, everything is about the so-called street and club styles - the Staatstheater Darmstadt will be the central place for encounters and exchange, where dance styles and personal stories meet, and experienced dancers will pass on their knowledge in workshops and create space for individual experimentation.
Here, participants can try out new things, expand their skills and gather inspiration, concluding with an open jam session with the HOUSEaHOLICS house community, where there is room for all forms of creativity and exchange. Whether dancer or spectator, beginner or professional - let's get down.
If you would like to take part in all four “Street & Clubstyle Special” workshops, you can book for the package price of €44 (while stocks last). Simply add tickets for all four workshops to your shopping cart and the discount will be applied at check-out. Get the package here
This workshop consists of three units: (1) insight into hiphop culture and basics, (2) freestyle and (3) choreography.
The aim is for everyone to understand that hip hop means finding your own style in the mass of possibilities. The insight into this culture is a small summary of how it came about and which styles are represented, so that we can then go into the basic and social steps and the concept in freestyle becomes clearer. The last part consists of a short choreography in which we incorporate our basic moves.

Debby's style is called Afrofusion. The idea behind this is that there is not just one Afro dance style, but that different styles from different African countries are fused together. Debby's style is still characterized by the fact that female and commercial elements have found their way into it. The aim of Debby's classes is cultural mediation, creating an oasis of well-being and an appreciative place, as well as having fun exploring the body and one's own (unexpected) abilities.
Debby has been teaching Afrofusion in Darmstadt since October 2020 and has firmly established herself in the Darmstadt cultural scene. She not only expresses her love of music through dance, Debby also sings. However, she considers dance to be a valuable tool for harmonizing with one's own body and finding a self-confident way of dealing with it. Debby studied politics at TU Darmstadt and also works professionally as a consultant for political education. Her expertise relates to discrimination in nurseries and schools.
